The Arab Board of Anesthesia and Intensive Care Part I Exam is a written preliminary exam held twice yearly (around May and November) and is open to candidates after completing at least 9 months of residency training. The exam focuses on basic sciences relevant to anesthesia—such as anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and physics—alongside introductory anesthesia concepts. Candidates are usually allowed three attempts, but a fourth attempt may be granted with the program director’s recommendation and approval by the Board. A minimum score of 60% is required to pass, and successful completion of Part I is necessary before progressing to the Final Written Exam and subsequently the Clinical/Oral Exam.

يُعدُّ امتحان الجزء الأول للمجلس العربي للتخدير والعناية المركزة اختباراً تحريرياً أولياً يُعقد مرتين سنوياً (في شهري مايو ونوفمبر تقريباً)، ويُتاح للمرشحين التقدم له بعد إتمامهم ما لا يقل عن 9 أشهر من التدريب في برنامج الإقامة. يركز الامتحان على العلوم الأساسية ذات الصلة بالتخدير -مثل التشريح، وعلم وظائف الأعضاء (الفسيولوجيا)، وعلم الأدوية، والفيزياء- إلى جانب المفاهيم الأولية في مجال التخدير. يُسمح للمرشحين عادةً بخوض الامتحان ثلاث مرات، مع إمكانية السماح بمحاولة رابعة بناءً على توصية مدير البرنامج وموافقة المجلس. يتطلب النجاح في الامتحان الحصول على درجة لا تقل عن 60%، ويُعد اجتياز الجزء الأول شرطاً أساسياً للانتقال إلى الامتحان التحريري النهائي، يليه الامتحان السريري/الشفوي.
